Quality, affordable housing is key to building, growing, and maintaining stability in communities. The ability to acquire homes that are affordable with equitable value is needed in communities nationwide.  The availability of affordable houses is to be accessible to individuals and families of low incomes, young adults just venturing into homeownership, to senior adults with fixed income and at a settled category of life, and equally to every race.  The influx of homes being purchased over market value by the “haves” makes acquiring a home at market value and as a traditional FHA purchase, challenging for the “have nots.”   

Communities should band together with organizations and individuals to form and implement building programs for affordable housing and prevent the increase of homelessness.  federal housing programs exist for public housing authorities, affordable housing developers, and organizations with the mission of affordable housing and ending homelessness.

 Each year communities risk their homes being destroyed or severely damaged during the hurricane season. When Communities are not in a posture to rebuild the community’s individuals and families can result in homelessness. Shelters allow individuals for a limited amount of time. That’s not home, that’s a shelter with borrowed time. 

As a community, let’s prevent homeless from increasing, away with nimby (not in my backyard) let your voices be heard in support of organizations that are attempting to build and implement affordable housing within the community.
